Carnivore Dreams – Hives and More Hell

Horrible day here.

Thanks for thinking of me, folks. Keep the good thoughts coming.

Hives are no better, hurt more and itch more. Virtual appointment coming up. But even that is not the worst. Vet called and said Maggie my sweet dog has lyme disease. Probably. I hadn’t been giving her the flea/tick meds because we had barely been to camp in two years and she had a neurological reaction to the stuff once which scared the shit out of me. So now I’ve caused my dog to have a life long disease. And she’ll have flares probably. Which no doubt is why her leg/hip has been hurting.

Never saw a tick on her and as I said, she hasn’t even been in the woods hardly at all. But started her on the doxcycline and tried a different flea/tick stuff the vet gave me.

Company coming tomorrow and I have to clean houses and boats and not in the mood for any of it.

At all.

Update: I’m being checked tomorrow for shingles. What a terrible few days.

  1. Visitors tend to show up at the worst times. Sorry about the Lyme disease and shingles. My wife had them a few times and it’s a painful ordeal. Best wishes and hope you get well.

    1. Thanks, Phil. Well, my visitors aren’t coming since Larry’s cousin hasn’t had chicken pox. I guess that’s a good thing. I’m trying to get my doctor to call in the Valtrex in case. Thanks for the good wishes!

  2. Omg, what on earth is plaguing you??

I am sick at heart at your news about Maggie (ever since I lost my 14-year old Frenchie, Pig—about three years ago—I have completely reconsidered the depth of animal-human bonds). Maybe she needs a second blood test?

And you, my dear: if you suspect shingles, you ask your doctor about Valtrex (valcyclovir) IMMEDIATELY! It has literally saved my husband’s life numerous times (he is vulnerable to what’s essentially “cold sores on the brain”). Even if your doc isn’t convinced that it’s all that effective, GET IT and TAKE IT! My mother didn’t listen to me and she now has permanent nerve damage from shingles.

You’re in my prayers, the lot of you! ❤️🌻🌷
