Carnivore Dreams – Bone Broth and Desiccated Beef Liver and Organs

He does look cute, that’s true. Like Native Americans I give thanks for his sacrifice to my diet and health!

I’m excited tonight! I made my bone broth with two chicken carcasses (with a little meat), a few carrots, celery, onions, garlic and a bay leaf (this is how I use vegetables–as seasoning and herbs). It cooked on low in the slow cooker for about 16 hours or so. I’m excited because after I cooled it down, it jiggled!! Success. Gelatin which is so good for your joints, skin, hair, etc. Sometimes it doesn’t jiggle and that’s disappointing.. Oh, you add in a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar which releases collagen. Oh, and a good pink salt. It tasted fantastic. Filtered water enough to cover of course.

I made a pot roast and gravy for my dad though I didn’t have any fresh tarragon and I missed it. I didn’t get any potatoes and only a rutabaga bite and a parsnip or two. So the house smelled great the last two days.

I also took my first liver/organ supplement and had NO after-taste or belching of such. So I’m excited to see how boosting my nutrient levels helps my hip and overall health. I’ve been getting a lot of headaches so am hoping things improve. I have next to no stomach problems on carnivore, though, something I suffered from for all of my life. No bloat, no constipation.

I’m reading Paul Saladino’s book The Carnivore Code to see if I can fine tune or rev up my diet regimen. I say “regimen” when I really mean lifestyle. I have no problem eating this way almost all the time. I ordered lots of good holiday meals since we don’t eat out too often anymore: prime rib (20 lbs. we’ll saw in half), venison, filets, lobster tails, 16 pounds of shrimp, scallops, mussels, a small turkey and a ham. And I have a few racks of lamb and some quail around.

Try bone broth. I especially like chicken and lamb. You need two chicken carcasses with neck bones. Some people get extra feet from their butcher but you don’t need to. It’s great to keep in the freezer for soups or just your daily bone broth shot.
